We are Ukrainian refugees living in Berlin. The people we help never got to leave — children with disabilities, elderly people too frail to flee, civilians caught in the war with nothing left. When the bombs fell, many people simply had no way out. Children with severe disabilities whose parents couldn't carry them far enough. Elderly men and women with no one to help them evacuate. Civilians whose entire world collapsed around them. These are the people we came from. These are the people we refused to leave behind.

A Refugee Who Refused to Look Away

Meet Agnessa

"I cannot look the other way when children are hungry."

Agnessa Romanina fled Ukraine and found safety in Berlin. But safety brought its own weight — the guilt of knowing that hundreds of thousands of civilians back home had no such luck. Children too disabled to be carried to safety. Grandmothers too frail to reach a shelter. People forgotten by the world. So she built "Angels Among Us" (Янголи серед нас) to reach them.

Living on refugee assistance in Berlin, she spends what little she has on supplies for others. She packs every box herself — not in a warehouse, but in her apartment. A volunteer driver then makes the long haul from Berlin deep into Ukraine, delivering directly to the civilians who cannot come to the aid themselves.

She is currently recovering from surgery. She is still packing boxes. Because the children back home — the ones who couldn't flee — they cannot wait.

The foundation has zero paid staff. Agnessa draws no salary. Every single cent goes to aid for civilians who had no way out. She just needs your help to keep going.

Is this a registered nonprofit?
"Янголи серед нас" (Angels Among Us) is a registered charitable foundation / non-governmental organization in Ukraine. All donations are used exclusively for humanitarian aid.
Does this foundation support military or combatants?
No. This is purely a civilian humanitarian aid organization. We help children with disabilities, elderly people, displaced families, and animal shelters. We do not fund, supply, or support any military activities.

Every delivery is documented with photographs. Recipients post thank-you messages and photos in our public Facebook community. You can follow along in real time. We also share delivery updates directly with donors who provide their email.
